You Belong Here
Blooming Sheila's community is a space for African women to connect, contribute, and be heard, not as readers, but as voices that shape what this magazine becomes.
More Than Just A Readership
Most magazines have audiences. We are building something different.
The Blooming Sheila community is a growing network of African women, on the continent and in the diaspora, who believe that our stories matter, our voices carry weight, and our connections with each other are worth cultivating deliberately. Whether you read every edition cover to cover, occasionally share an article that moved you, or contribute your own writing and ideas, you are part of this.
SUBMIT YOUR PITCH
We are always looking for African women with something to say. We welcome pitches, finished pieces, photography, personal essays, cultural commentary, and reporting from across the continent and diaspora. We always welcome writing that is honest, culturally grounded, and told without apology. We do not want pieces that soften African realities for outside audiences. We want the full, complex, layered truth.
SHAPE WHAT WE BUILD
What do you want to see in Blooming Sheila? What topics feel underrepresented? What format would you love us to try? What conversation are you waiting for someone to start? Your suggestions directly influence our editorial planning. This is not feedback that disappears into a void, our team reads everything.
